Never pour down the drain
- Bacon / burger grease
- Turkey or roast drippings
- Thick sauces and gravy
- Coffee grounds (they bind with grease)
Better habits
- Wipe pans with a paper towel into the garbage.
- Collect cooled grease in a can, then trash it.
- Use a sink strainer for scraps.
- Run hot water after dishwashing — but hot water alone will not dissolve a grease plug already set in the line.
When DIY is not enough
If the sink fills while the dishwasher drains, or you need plunging monthly, book a proper clean before a full backup hits the cabinet.
